National screening programs at Maritime Hospital JSC

All mentioned tests are availed free of charge.

The National Program of Breast Cancer Screening provides free breast screening every two years for all women in Georgia aged 40 to 70. The National Program of Breast Cancer Screening is an effective part of the Georgia`s efforts to reduce the death toll from breast cancer. The World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer concluded that there is a 35 per cent reduction in mortality from breast cancer among screened women.
The National Program of Cervical Cancer Screening provides free cervical screening every three years for all women in Georgia aged 25 to 60. The program aims to reduce the number of women who develop invasive cervical cancer (incidence) and the number of women who die from it (mortality). It does this by regularly screening all women at risk so that conditions which might otherwise develop into invasive cancer can be identified and treated.
Early detection and treatment can prevent 75 per cent of cancer
The National Program of Prostate Cancer Risk Management offers PSA test every year to all men in Georgia aged 50 to 70.
Prostate Cancer Risk Management Program aims to detect prostate cancer risks at an early stage. If the level of PSA in blood is raised, this may mean prostate cancer. About 2 out of 3 men with a raised PSA level will not have prostate cancer.
